One more star in the mighty Indian team has aroused in the current ODI series. He is Vijay Shankar, a batting all-rounder who today showed his brilliance in the field against fierce Aussies. Took two wickets in the last over and played a handy knock of 46. Moreover, the add-on of captain Kohli’s another century of 116 runs strengthened the target.

Today’s India vs Australia 2nd ODI was a nail-biting event where all from players to the audiences were nervous. But, the result arrived at the last where India won by 8 runs. Now, the 5 match ODI series went up to 2-0. But, still, Australia has a chance to retaliate and could win the series.

Australia (242-10 Stoinis 52, Handscomb 48 and Kuldeep 54-3, Bumrah 29-2) lost to India (250-8 Kohli 116 and Cummins 29-4, Zampa 62-2) by 8 runs.

Australia chose to bowl and kept India under 250. However, Kohli’s 40th ODI ton helped the team score to reach 250. Pat Cummins did a great job from the bowling side. In his 9 overs spell, he bowled 2 maidens and conceded only 29 runs, and blowing 4 crucial wickets. Also, the spinners Lyon and Maxwell handle the responsibility by controlling their economy to 4.5 and got 1-1 wicket each. From the fielding point of view, Aussies have done well.

Coming to their batting side, opening pairs Finch and Khwaja adds a partnership of 83 runs. After which the Australian captain got lbw by Kuldeep. Today, after a long time he geared up well with 37 runs. First down Shaun Marsh got out for 16 runs caught by Dhoni at the back in Jadeja’s over. Maxwell (4 runs) too showed hopelessness bowled by Kuldeep. Middle-order was good though with Peter Handscomb scoring 45 and Stoinis half-century of 56 runs. But, today was the day of Vijay Shankar who in the first ball of the last over got Stoinis out through lbw. Next, in the third ball, he bowled the stumps out of Zampa leading his team to win the match.

This was Vijay’s other best performance in ODI. Catch him in IPL 2019 with his team Sunrises Hyderabad. The first encounter for SRH will be against KKR on 24th March in Hyderabad.
